Prophetic Word: Matters of the heart and Changing of the Guards

2020 has been a whirlwind for everyone. I don’t know anyone that has not been affecting somehow by the curve balls of this year. From the death of Kobe Bryant and those that lost their lives, to COVID-19 and a complete shutdown of the world, to racism and its many intricate systems, job loss, and many uncertainties that we are still facing today. We have been through a lot. The body of Christ has not been exempt from feeling this. Many prophetic words have come forth and many have been questioned also from previous years and seasons. I’m going to try my best with God’s help to bring some thing together and give language to our future.

First i was to deal with the prophetic word that many spoke at the end of 2019 and into the beginning of 2020: THE YEAR OF VISION. I know I am not the only person who heard this prophetic word more than once. It was the prophetic theme for 2020. Year 2020, 20/20 vision, clarity, it sounds good, right? But then we began to get hit by things that took us by surprise, how ironic! We declared it being a year of vision but was blind sighted. Now I’m not here to judge whether the word was true or false but i do want to give more language to it. When we speak about vision, we don’t always speak about the many other systems that work with how we see. God began to speak to me concerning how our vision is dictated by our heart. What’s in our heart in what we will perceive to see. Yes, what you carry in your heart, the organ can distort your sight, but more significantly, what’s in you heart, your mind, will always control what you see. What your eyes look at isn’t what you see. What do I mean? I’m glad you asked! Your eyes give you sight, but your heart, your mind, gives you insight. How you perceive a things is what your eyes will see. Your vision is not dictated by what you are looking at, it’s dictated by your perception of what you are seeing. So, we are indeed in a season of vision, but what you are seeing is dictated by what’s in your heart. How well you see is determined by how healed your heart is. And that’s what i want to speak on. We have been witnessing a lot of injustice in today’s world. From racism, to freedom of speech, social disparities and so many more. But if your heart is wounded or distorted, your perception of what you are seeing will be, too. God has been dealing with me regarding Ezekiel 44 since April. Now, when God takes me to Ezekiel, i tremble on the inside and cringe in my soul because I automatically know there is an alarm going off. Ezekiel was. A prophet that majored in sounding alarms, giving warnings and releasing hard words. All of which I am not too fond of doing. But i obeyed, i started studying the chapter and the story behind it. God pointed out a specific verse to me by showing me repetitive numbers over and over. And over and over. It’s one of the ways He gets my attention. The verse was Ezekiel 44:4, “Also He brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the temple; so I looked, and behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD; and I fell on my face.” At first when i read this, i was excited! Like yes, God’s glory is coming!! Another prophetic word we’ve been hearing a lot. But then God told me to read more. And I did. And my smile turned into a frown. My happiness turned into grief. My excitement turned into sorrow. Throughout the chapter, after experiencing Gods glory, God begins to tell Ezekiel some choice words for those who have rebelled against Him and His commands. He speaks on how He gave leaders and certain groups responsibilities that they did not adhere to. They allowed things to happen that were unlawful and disobedient to God’s commands. In one part of the chapter God talks about how the Israelites strayed away from their responsibilities and the Levites ended up doing their work. God tells Ezekiel, “Because they ministered to them before their idols and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity, therefore I have raised My hand in an oath against them,” says the Lord GOD, “that they shall bear their iniquity.” Ezekiel‬ ‭44:12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. YIKES!! He removed His hand from them and gave their place to someone else! How fearful and sobering! Listen, when God give you a command or instructs you to do something, do it. When you find yourself straying away or veering off course, ask for forgiveness and repent. QUICKLY!

We are in a time where we will experience a changing of the guards. Yes, another prophetic word we’ve been hearing. Y’all, I’m trying to tie these things together here! What we are experiencing, right now, is God’s judgement with a whole lot of grace. I know we don’t like to speak about God’s judgement but it’s a real thing and does exist. We, the body of Christ, has been sorely missing the mark on way too many things. We have become distracted and sadly have confirmed to what the world thinks we should look like and what the world will accept. We have settled for validity from man instead of God. It’s a bad place to be in, ask me how i know! Some of us have literally abandoned the duties of our functionality altogether. And for what?! Social media fake love, likes, shares, access to our favorite preachers’ platforms. Yes, i said that. We have conformed our kingdom uniqueness to mere likability of the masses. Not cool. And sadly, God has been giving us warning after warning. Holy Spirit has been convicting us over and over but we have overrode His wisdom and ways of truth. So in this season, God is saying “no more.” He is sitting people down. He is raising one up and pulling down another in hopes of renewing their motives, their ways and their hearts. Gods judgement is always done with hopes of redemption. By the blood of Christ we are not exempt from trying to get it right again, but some times God will pull us down and away to fix what’s off, to deal with our heart and vision. Here’s instruction for those of you who may know you have abandoned your duties to God: repent. Humble yourself before God does. Gracefully bow out and let God revamp and mold you. It’s okay to go back on the Potter’s wheel. We all must go there at different points in our lives. Listen, our hearts will deceive us and as Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 16:25 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” God isn’t trying to kill you or break you, fam. He’s trying to save you from you! Let Him. I don’t think it’s a mistake either that this scripture is written twice in the Bible. Sometimes we need an extra reminder. When scriptures repeat themselves throughout the Bible it’s meant to grab your attention. It’s meant for you to take another look at yourself and ask God to help you evaluate your heart and motives.

For some of you, this is a time that you will witness the hand of God strongly on your lives. You have been plowing. You have stayed true to your call and duties, even took on the responsibility of others. You didn’t murmur or complain, you did it unto God. You will be exalted. The glory of the Lord will be evidence that He is with you and has anointed you for such a time as this. Now, listen, don’t get beside yourself. Remember at all times, it’s not you, it’s all God. Remain low, remain humble, God will boast on your behalf. As you elevate, it will not always feel comfortable. New is scary, being held to a higher standard is fearful but keep a sober mind and keep God first. He put you there and He will keep you there. It won’t be done in your own strength. Your instruction, do what God says to do and speak what God says to speak. Judge what He tells you to judge. It will not be comfortable. Promotion is not always comfortable. You have to get used to the expansion and new capacity that you’ve been stretched for. That stretching wasn’t in vain. It was for now. It was for the new place you have entered. Guard it properly. Judge with the fear of the Lord as your guidance. Stay on constant partnership with Holy Spirit as He leads the way. It’s not going to feel like the old and some thing you will have to set free in order to keep going. Let it go, grieve and keep moving.

I want to leave you all with a simple instruction, pray. This is a now time that we should be indulged in our prayer lives. We should be saturated by the presence of God and in deep intercession for our brothers and sisters. This word isn’t to make anyone feel good, it’s to sober us all. Whether your are at risk of being pull down or you are up next to be exalted by God you should be sober. They are both opportunities and invitations from God and it’s up to you how well you steward it. Ignoring God’s invitation will lead you to destruction, always. Even if it seems right and looks like a good path, we don’t see what God sees. We see part, He sees all. I pray that this will drive you into a place of prayer and seeking the Father like never before. I pray that you will receive everything God has for you in this season and that you will not harden your heart to hear what He is saying. I pray humility will be your stance in this season and that pride will not cause you to fall. God restore, release, and revamp your people. Cause us to see and hear You above all. Your ways are not ours, Your thoughts are not like ours. Transform us, may we never again conform. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
